Coffee Baby!

Here are a couple of cool coffee links that I've found recently that you should definitely check out. One is a Flickr album called Coffee Porn which is totally clean except for the naked group handle ;) - it's clean too.

The other is a photo journal of a complete rebuild of a La Marzocco machine that this guy off bought eBay - buyer beware!

I've also put some piccys of my latest latte art below as I've been commenting on other peoples (Guthers, Michelle) so thought it'd be only fair to open it up for comment on mine.

Wow. I went and scrolled through those photos of the La Marzocco - the inside of the boiler was incredibly bad. I'm going to descale my ECM this afternoon!

I'd love to do a restoration like that one day. Even if it took 10 years I wouldn't mind. I think it'd be so rewarding to pull your first shot - but I don't know if I have the know how to do it. He seemed to do lots of welding and stuff I have no idea on. Ah well. Maybe one day.

The electrical stuff was what put me off. I know a couple of sparkies (one of which just refurbished a vintage Baby Gaggia from the '70's) but you're right Sambo - a lot of effort but I reckon it would be worth it.

You have the garage...! Are you willing to give up some bench space for 10 years?

Have you checked this site out before?

That is freaking AWESOME. I reckon this is the machine Snopp Dogg would have if he were into it - talk about bling. Go here for the full rebuild. Nice one Sambo!

Thanks Guthers. I'm not consistent in the shape and form but I'm usually happy with most of them.

It depends so much an how good the milk is - which I think there is more room for error on my machine (taking 30secs to steam a jug) as opposed to your (you, Sam, Michelle) machines which if you screw up the milk you can't usually recover in the 10-15secs you have for a jug. What do you reckon?

What type of machine are you driving Matt?

An Sunbeam EM5800 semi-auto thermoblock. Nowhere near the awesomeness of your ECM (you've a giotto right?) Paired with a KG100 grinder (Solis/Delonghi/Starbucks). I'll drink what it puts out.

Upgrade is on the cards to an old La Marzocco with Mazzer grinder from a mate of Sam's. Yay!
